After some mouth against the current world Football that he is finished he came out with a superb performance against the Champion of England.
Perhaps the best news to come out
of these summer friendlies for Barcelona is that their star man Lionel
Messi is back on track and playing at a high level again.
The
forward's mental fortitude was under scrutiny from some sections of the
media following his international retirement after suffering defeat in
the Copa America final, but he showed against Leicester City on Wednesday that's all in the past and is focused on the new season.
Messi
played well in the first International Champions Cup game against
Celtic in Dublin and then provided two assists against the Premier
League champions in Stockholm.
The first assist came from a pass
between the lines, breaching the defence to allow Munir take advantage,
while the second was a lob pass that gave Luis Suarez the chance to
break into the box.
You would hardly notice that the Argentine
joined up with the team a week later than most of his teammates, as the
player looks in good condition and is playing well.
Messi has
been doing specific training along with Arda Turan to catch up with the
rest of the team, and has looked better with every day of practice at
St. George's Park the past week.
The 29-year-old has not scored
yet in either game, somewhat of a drought for a player of his calibre,
but the most important thing right now is that he is fit for the
Supercopa de Espana against Sevilla on August 12.
