Senegalese and Crystal Palace player, Pape Souare, has narrowly survived
a car accident on the M4 motorway close to the Heathrow Airport,
England.
The Mirror UK, reports that the crash occurred on Sunday at around
12.10pm and the defender has to be airlifted to hospital following the
horror crash.
The accident, which involved a two-car crash, saw Souare’s car smashed into the central reservation.
The Senegalese was driving a Mercedes G63 and his club, Crystal
Palace confirmed that the player suffered injuries to his thigh and jaw
bone and remains in hospital.
The left-back is understood to have been cut out of the vehicle before being taken to an east London hospital for treatment.
Eye-witnesses at the scene said the Mercedes appeared to have crashed into the central reservation.
Soaure,
who was signed from French side, Lille in 2015, has played three times
in the Premier League this season and 56 times for the club.
A Crystal Palace spokesman said, “Crystal Palace Football Club regret
to confirm that Pape Souare was yesterday involved in a car accident
and taken to hospital in London.
“The player has sustained injuries to his thigh and jaw bone and will remain in hospital whilst he receives treatment.
“The
club are liaising closely with the hospital on his progress and we
obviously wish him a speedy recovery. Our thoughts are with Pape and his
family at this time.”
