Normally when Real Madrid enter a
big game there is a tendency to plump for the Spanish giants due to
their wealth of talent and prestige.
However, currently there are a
few cracks emerging and question marks hanging over Los Blancos as they
travel to face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League group stage.
Chief among which is the form and fitness of Cristiano Ronaldo,
Karim Benzema, and Gareth Bale. Any trio known simply by their acronym,
such as BBC or MSN, are to be feared but the numbers don't quite add up
at this stage of Real's season.
Whilst it's true that none of
them underwent a proper pre-season, the trio have only netted five times
between them in the first eight games of 2016/17 after 18 by this point
of last season and 14 two years ago.
Taking such a record to
Dortmund is a risk for Real, the Germans representing a great rival in
recent years and having often struggled against them it could be time
for fresh faces in Zinedine Zidane's line-up, such as Alvaro Morata.
A
second-straight Champions League crown is up for grabs this season and
if Madrid can overcome this big hurdle, they may just show themselves to
be favourites for the title.
