Manchester City are in the sights
of Lionel Messi as the Barcelona forward sat out Thursday's training
session to ensure his fitness for the Champions League encounter.
What
remains of the Blaugrana squad undertook a regular day's practice in
Catalunya without the Argentine, who opted to work away from the pitch having rejoined the team earlier in the week.
Depending
on his recovery, Messi may or may not play a part in Barcelona's LaLiga
fixture with Deportivo La Coruna before Pep Guardiola's Man City are on
the agenda on October 19.
Elsewhere at the Catalans' Ciudad
Deportiva base, six reserve players joined the first-team under Luis
Enrique's orders, including Jose Suarez and Marlon Santos.
The
senior players not on international duty have now been treated to three
days off before resuming their training on Monday afternoon.
